The Magic-Hating Magician of Vegas

“I have always hated magic,” he says. “I have always hated the basic undercurrent of magic which Jerry Seinfeld put best when he said: ‘All magic is “Here’s a quarter, now it’s gone. You’re a jerk. Now it’s back. You’re an idiot. Show’s over”.’ I never wanted to grow up to be a magician. It was never my goal.”

So sayeth the talking one in this Penn and Teller interview.

  1. I completely agree. Magicians can come across as “lok how smart I am”….but, like any form of entertainment a good performer can completely chang how you feel about an art form. I’m a magician…please check out my magic video blog –

  2. Fantastic article.

Would love to see more articles, like this, that delve into the core of magic and performance.

  3. It depends on your outlook about magic. Some people will like it while others don’t

  4. I completely agree some magician believe they are the best thing since slice bread, however it is how you approach magic that depicts weather this is the type of magic you wont to do, as a magician you should be trying to engage your audience as you must consider that although we carry the title magician we are fundamentally an entertainer utilising magic. Therefore you achieve nothing by belittling the volunteer. I would even go as far as to say that if a spectator’s idea of fun is making fun of the magician as long as the crowd are having fun and no one is being hurt where is the harm
